    UPDATE 09.17.2026

Dutch footballer Steven Bergwijn recently gave the world a detailed, on-pitch look at the Kobe Bryant x Nike Mercurial Superfly 11.

Worn ahead of and during a match against Al-Shamal SC, the special-edition football boot is expected to release before the holidays, following the "Mambacurial" Nike Collection launching on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The pair's "Hyper Pink/Electric Green/Red Plum" continues to honor Bryant's alter-ego with an eye-catching, venomous aesthetic.

    ORIGINAL STORY 08.04.2026

Kobe Bean Bryant passed away on Jan. 26, 2020, but his presence is still felt in the world of sportswear. His Nike Basketball line continues to deliver Protro footwear that blends heritage with modern performance—all while promoting the "Mamba Mentality" that made the five-time NBA champion such a lethal force on-the-court and inspiring figure off it.

This same killer instinct has informed crossover Nike Kobe and Nike Football product over the years—in recent memory, FC Barcelona's 25/26 and 26/27 Away kits. But the celebration of Bryant's longstanding love for "the beautiful game" isn't stopping there: a Kobe Bryant Nike Mercurial Pack is on the way.

Much about the collaborative football boots release is still under wraps, but the project includes thematic pairs of the current-gen Mercurial Vapor 17 and Superfly 11. Early in-hand looks and speculative mock-ups point to the "Black Mamba"-inspired Mercs featuring an eye-catching "Hyper Pink/Electric Green/Red Plum" color scheme. Lightweight Atomknit and FlyWeave Ultra uppers don gradient finishes and fluorescent green Swooshes that reflect the lethality of Bryant's alter ego—a persona that seamlessly transitions onto the football pitch.

Having spent part of his youth in Italy, Kobe Bryant learned to play football (soccer) at a young age. His interest in the sport—specifically fandom of AC Milan and Barça—followed him throughout the rest of his life. In developing some of his most popular Nike Kobe basketball shoes, Bryant drew inspiration from football boots, transitioning away from the high collars typical of hoops models in favor of shorter trims that allowed the ankle to flex freely.

During Summer 2013, the Los Angeles Lakers legend and the Swoosh launched the "Mambacurial" Kobe 8, a performance basketball sneaker referencing that year's "Fireberry" Mercurial Vapor 9 football boot launch. The low-top shoe is expected to return in Protro-form before the year ends, and it seems that the Kobe-inspired Vapor 17 and Superfly 11 are rooted in this basketball-football footwear heritage.

Bryant's first name appears on the medial heel of the boots, replacing enlarged "NIKE" or "M" logos on past Mercs. Additionally, the NBA icon's Sheath logo lands on the top-of-the-tongue.

The special-edition football boots are expected to release via Nike.com and select shops during the Holiday 2026 season. Pricing should range between $330-$345. Takedown and turf editions should also be available.
