As New Balance gears up to restore the 1000 silhouette in 2024, the brand is setting the stage with high-profile collaborations that promise to reignite interest in this classic model. New Balance is now tapping long-time collaborator Joe Freshgoods for his take on the classic trainer.

The upcoming Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 collaboration introduces two striking colorways, “Pink Mink” and “Black Ice,” which reimagine the classic late-1990s runner freshly and innovatively. The “Pink Mink” version presents itself in soft, muted pink hues, while its counterpart, the “Black Ice,” features a captivating rosy copper tone. Both pairs boast matte metallic overlays that add a luxurious feel to the design, setting them apart from traditional sneaker aesthetics.

Although the “Black Ice” iteration resembles the Air Tuned Max “Celery” in terms of color palette, it stands on its own as a unique creation within Joe Freshgoods' collaboration with New Balance, steering clear of direct comparisons to Nike designs.

The New Balance 1000, while not as widely recognized as other models in the brand's repertoire, is poised for a resurgence. With New Balance's current surge in popularity, this collaboration, alongside a series of upcoming general releases and additional high-profile partnerships, is set to shine a spotlight on this once-overlooked silhouette.

Fans of Joe Freshgoods and New Balance can look forward to these exclusive releases first via Joe's channels on April 13th — raffles now live until April 12th — followed by a wider release of the Black colorway at retailers and NewBalance.com on April 19th.
